BIC Permanent Print Ad

Advertiser: BIC Permanent Marker
Title: Old Lady
Agency: TBWA\Paris, Boulogne-Billancourt

my take: I love the concept not the boobs alrite. But I thought her boobs are maintained quite well given her age. Ok back to the ad! What is trying to imply is that the ink is DEFINITELY permanent using an old woman to signal that implicit meaning. Another great ad with a simple impactful message! 4.5/5

The Favourite and talk-about Honda Accord TV ad

The all-time Favourite Ad that will never be forgotten.

One of the best advertisments in the world and the history of advertising.

The Grand Clio Awards 2005 Winner

Honda Accord Commercial

Product: Honda Accord
Title: Grr
Agency: Wieden + Kennedy, London

my take: When I see this ad, I was impressed about how advanced computer graphics are until I realised this is all done in REAL-TIME. the true momentum forces of physics! I was even more impressed. Comments taken from youtube.com was that that this commercial cost Honda 6 million dollars, 3 months, and 606 takes to finish. Everything you see in the film are parts from 2 HANDBUILT Accords out of 6 that exists in the world. When Honda executives viewed the film they commented on how advanced the computer graphic has gotten. They fell off their chairs when they found out it was real. haha!

I was wondering why did the tyres went uphill. is there enough weights to do that? it was then confirmed by some comments that the tires have counterweights at the very top. When they are nudged slightly, gravity's pull on the counterweights causes them to pull the tires up the slope.

all it take was ONE SHOT! amazing... some argued was more than 1 but what the hect? the advertisement is a phnemenon and you gotta admit that. One effort that Honda went all the way make it worth it when few years later, people still remember the ad vividly and the brand perception positioning has taken to its advantage.

cleverly exploited to the nature of forces. 5/5!

Nugget Shoe Polish Exam Cheat Note & Police Officer Print Ad

From 2005 Clio Awards, here are one of the winners that caught my attention -

Advertiser:Nugget Shoe Polish
Title: Exam Cheat Note
Agency: The Jupiter Drawing Room, Johannesburg

my take: At first, I had trouble trying to make out what it was trying to say. Then I realise because the shoe was so shiny that it could make out the cheat note under the desk! haha. It was surprising and creative. Thought this is clear and simple of how a shoe polish could go so far being a commodity item can bring high involvement of the consumers in the advertisement. great! 4.5/5

-----------------------------------

Another great work from them!

Advertiser: Nugget Shoe Polish
Title: Police Officer
Agency: The Jupiter Drawing Room, Johannesburg

my take: If you realise it's the simple concept that draw my attention. I was wondering what this fella is upto. I mean what is he trying to do? with his shoe stuck out like that, he is using the shoe as a mirror to see his coming thief. I would have never thought about this. A product that requires no selection of brand preference would come up with a brillant ad idea to gain attention. This is how they differentiate in the most appropriate creative way. 4.5/5

Client: Tony Fernandes, Kathleen Tan, Widijastoro Nugroho, Herjanto Widjaja

my take: Now Superman to the rescue! but this time not a hunk, macho, gd looking one. I think he looks stern and incredibly fierce! heroic look yea? he's cute too! wearing beach shirt with a bald head. I thought he carry well for this role for AirAsia and with the ATM card. He can't wait to pay. He seems to be in control. AirAsia really protray the image of the power of its 'heroic' consumers. I give it a 4/5 for his heroic act. who is he going to save this time?

my take: HAHa! this is a very interesting ad. takes alot of computer effects too. Reminds of the XBOX ad concept but this is a higher level with the 'BIG BANG' when universe was created and showing the different stages. The concept is simple, "Guinness is so good that it is worth it to wait for a whole lifetime."

Also note, how man evolution came about like the man becoming like a pig and the standstill when cells are created! haha.

nice work, I like the creativity. 4.5/5

Peugeot 1007 TV Ad - In a woman's world

Peugeot 1007

I first saw this ad in M&C Saatchi website. Do not have much information on it but definitely sure it's one of the works from them.

"In a woman's world, men will be tailored made. high heels wouldn't hurt, husbands would give birth, diamonds would grow on trees and every car would be like this -Peugeot 1007"

simply brillant because it brought out woman's POWER and status revolving in the society. the confident us. clever plot with a sweet background music. obviously the car is targetted at women.

simple and short. straight to the point. haha I love it! 5/5. not forgetting the car is superb.

*PS: if only those mention were true and that's exactly why it was accomplished by the advertisement.

my take:

look at the amount of clothes! reminds me of my dirty laundry. haha. great attention catcher but the amount of work to this is enormous and imagine siting in a bus like that?! I rate it 4/5 because I love the out-of-the-box idea but still, how long can it last on the bus like that. not for long term I guess.
